Hawks Rout Richmond in Regular Season Finale, 76-56

RICHMOND - Junior Whitney Ffrench netted a career-high 23 points and Saint Joseph's (18-9, 10-6) shot a season-best 54.2 percent from the floor to cruise past Richmond (12-16, 7-9 A-10) in the team's regular season finale, 76-56, at the Robins Center.

The Hawks scored the opening basket and never looked back as they finished 14-of-24 from the field in the first half (58.3 percent). A 10-1 run spirt from the 15 minute mark to the 11 minute mark sparked Saint Joseph's.

Taking a 42-26 edge into the second half, the Spiders cut the deficit to 10, 56-46, with 8:51 remaining. However, The Hawks responded with a 19-4 run over the next five minute to pull away for good.

For the game, the Hawks went 26-of-48 and grabbed 41 rebounds, while Richmond went 17-of-51 (33.3 percent) and grabbed 25 boards.

Individually, Ffrench's career-high 23 led all scorers, while senior Faith Schutte add 13 as 10 of the 12 Hawks who saw action scored at least two points.

At the other end, Richmond was led by Amber Petillon's 16 points.

Saint Joseph's, who clinched the fifth seed in next week's Atlantic 10 Tournament, will face 12-seeded Fordham Friday at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse.
