Young's Strong 1,000m Run Falls Just Short at IC4As; Two Relays Compete in Boston

March 10, 2008

BOSTON, Mass. - The Saint Joseph's track teams competed at the ECAC Championships for women and the IC4A Championships for men this weekend, seeing a school record fall for the second consecutive week, and another impressive individual performance in the men's 1,000m run.

Jordan Teuber, captain of the women's track team, bested her school record in the 200m dash, sprinting to a time of 24.99. Last week, Teuber qualified for the ECACs and broke the school record by running 25.09 at NYU. Her performance this weekend placed her 17th amongst the other 200m dash athletes.

On the men's side, Steve Young ran a time of 2:28.30, just sixth-tenths of a second out of qualifying for the 1,000m Finals.

The men's Distance Medley and 4x800m Relays also ran at the Reggie Lewis Center, finishing in 16th and 17th, respectively. The DMR consisted of Ryan Fenimore for the 1,200m leg, Brian Doherty for the 400m leg, Luke Fischer for the 800m leg, and Brian Guterl for the 1,600m leg. The 4x800m squad had George Arcarola, Jesse Brooks, Brendan Kearney and Jon Sclafani.

Kyle Murray and Natalie Miller also competed at the meet in Boston. Murray ran the 5,000m run, finishing 17th in a time of 15:02.95. Miller competed in the high jump, but didn't clear the initial 5 foot-5 inch height to record a place.

The ECAC/IC4A meet completed the Hawks' indoor track season. The outdoor squad hits the track in three weeks at the Monmouth Season Opener in West Long Branch, N.J. on March 29.
