PRINCETON, N.J. - Stephen Young, Ryan Fenimore, Drew Brandt and the 4x400m Relay put together the best performances at the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton this weekend.
Young ran a 2008 team-best 1:54.50 in the 800m run, good for seventh place. Young's performance was not the lone team-best showing on Saturday as Brandt (400m dash) and the 4x400m Relay also turned in season bests.
Brandt, although finishing 17th, finished in a time of 49.68 in the 400m, to post the first sub-50 second 400m dash of the season. The 4x400m squad of Brandt, Jesse Brooks, Jared Sabre, and Brian Smith finished ninth in a time of 3:21.19.
Fenimore led a flock of Hawks in the 1,500m run as the first of four SJU harriers to finish in the top 10. Fenimore was fourth in a time of 4:01.39, followed closely by Luke Fischer (4:01.73) in fifth. Jonathan Sclafani (4:05.99) and Justin Heinze (4:06.32) finished eighth and ninth, respectively, in the 1,500m.
The Hawks will stay in Philadelphia this week as they take part in the three-day Penn Relays Carnival at Franklin Field in their final tune up before the Atlantic 10 Championships at UMass.
