COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's men's track team picked up a couple of victories at the 2009 Collegeville Classic hosted by Ursinus College on Friday night. The Hawks saw their wins come from the 5K and the 4x200m relay. A young SJU squad, which held out many of its top veteran athletes, finished fifth overall in the team copmetition.
Kevin Donnelly highlighted the young Hawks by capturing the 5K by over 22 seconds, running a career-best time of 15: 55.85. The win was Donnelly's first at SJU.
The 4x200m relay won its event in a time of 1:32.19 for Saint Joseph's second win of the night.
Tom DiNatale almost provided the Hawks with a trio of victories, but his time of 22.80 in the 200-meter dash was good for second place.
Logan Hohs was the only other top three finisher at the Classic, running a time of 2:39.10 to capture bronze in the 1,000-meter run.
SJU will return to action next week, as the teams will compete at two meets—Penn State National and the Thomson Invitational at Delaware.
