The Saint Joseph's men's track team opened it's winter season Saturday evening at the Jack Pyrah Invitational hosted by Villanova at Haverford's Alumni Field House. Sophomore Tom DiNatale led the Hawks in two events.
DiNatale took fifth in the 300m dash in 36.35 seconds and finished 16th in the 55m dash in 6.83 seconds while senior Drew Brandt followed in 6.84 seconds. Freshman Connor Hubschman finished the 55m soon after DiNatale in 36.38 (sixth place).
Freshman Garrett Barbalinardo led the Hawks in the 500m dash with a second place finish in 1:07.46 while Dylan Wenik and Steven Philbrook placed seventh (1:08.80) and eighth (108.95), respectively.
In the 800m freshman Ryan Garvin took second, finishing just two hundredths of a second behind the first place finisher in 1:58.88 while freshman Andrew Townsend finished soon after in fifth (2:00.26).
Freshman Kyle Gorczynski was the top finisher for the Hawks in the mile run, placing seventh in 4:31.93, while freshman Conor Logan trailed in eighth (4:37.34).
In the long jump Victor DiNoia took sixth (19'8 ¾") while Vinh Nghi To tied for seventh (19'7") and John DiPersio placed 12th (17'2 ¼").
SJU placed fourth in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:28.08.
The Hawks compete next at Princeton on Friday, December 11 at 6:00 p.m.
