Day Two Results
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Saint Joseph's men's track team rode victories in the 800m and the 1,000m runs to pace the squad on the second day of the Giegengack Invitational at Yale on Saturday. Brian Guterl turned in an IC4A-qualifying and a team best in his 1,000m victory while Luke Fischer did the same in the 800m.
Guterl bested the field by over two seconds with a 2:25.84 gold medal performance. Fischer topped the field with a time of 1:55.15 in the 800m.
The 4x400m Relay turned in a time of 3:20.32, which earned the squad third place. Jared Sabre ran a team-best 49.67 in the 400m dash to take bronze as well. Nick DeFeo (50.64) and Drew Brandt (50.75) took sixth and seventh, respectively.
Kyle Murray managed the only other top 10 performance of the day as he placed ninth in the Mile. His time of 4:13.92 was good enough for IC4As.
The Hawks wrap up their regular season next week at the Lafayette-Rider Invitational in preparation for the A-10 Championships the following week. The L-R Invite takes place on Friday at New York's Armory Track & Field Center at 2:00 p.m.
