BOSTON, Mass.--The Saint Joseph's men's track team concluded its 2009 indoor season at the IC4A Championships this weekend. The Hawks finished tied for 35th of 50 teams that scored behind Bobby Staten's third place showing in the 200m.
The fifth-year senior out of Bethel Park, Pa. qualified for the finals of the 200m with a time of 21.56. Staten would improve upon his preliminary showing, sprinting 21.52 to garner a bronze medal.
Brian Guterl was the only other scorer for Saint Joseph's as he qualified eighth in the preliminaries and ran eighth in the finals of the 1,000m. Guterl ran a time of 2:26.28 in the prelims and backed that up with a time of 2:28.31 in the finals.
A pair of distancemen, Kyle Murray and Will Rowland, competed in the 5K. Murray (14:39.10) and Rowland (14:39.35) finished 20th and 22nd, respectively.
The 4x800m Relay squad of Luke Fischer, Brendan Kearney, Steve Young and Guterl ran to 13th with a season-best time of 7:41.74.
Tom DiNatele, Drew Brandt, Brian Smith and Jared Sabre competed on the 4x400m squad that finished 23rd in a time of 3:21.47. The DMR squad of Jesse Brooks, Steven Philbrook, Dylan Wenik and Murphy O'Donnell finished 32nd.
