Victory in 4x400-Meter Relay Paces Men's Track at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's men's track squad saw the 4x400m Relay capture gold in the Wetzler/Pennsylvania section of the Penn Relays this weekend.  In all, six relays competed the last two days at Franklin Field.

The squad of Drew Brandt, Bobby Staten, Dylan Wenik and Jared Sabre combined to run an IC4A-qualifying and season-best time of 3:16.17 in the 4x400m.  The Hawks' victory in the race was the lone first-place performance over the three-day weekend.

The 4x200m Relay successfully qualified for the IC4A Finals and managed to post seventh.  Tom DiNatale, Paul Barolette, Brandt and Staten passed the baton in a time of 1:26.52.

The team of Brian Guterl, Jesse Brooks, Ryan Birchmeier and Sabre combined forces in the Distance Medley Relay that finished 11th.  The squad completed the race in a time of 10:01.99.

Saint Joseph's fielded relays in the Sprint Medley and 4x800m Relays as well.

The Hawks will travel south to Charlotte, N.C. where they'll meet the rest of the Atlantic 10 for the A-10 Championship, May 2-3.
