Women's Track Wins Two Events at Gotham Cup

New York, N.Y. - The Saint Joseph's women's track team won two events in the Gotham Cup at the Armory Track and Field Center on Friday evening. Junior Kristin Andrews and freshman Sara Walker won the 800m and 1,000m, respectively.

Andrews took first with a time of 2:16.87 and junior Anna Casey placed second (2:18.36) out of 55 runners in the 800m run, while Walker finished first of 47 runners in the 1,000m run with a time of 2:59.70.

Sophomore Ashley Williams finished 13th overall and second in the fourth heat of the 60m preliminaries and improved to 10th overall in the final round, running both in 8.01 seconds.

In the seeded triple jump Nohjay Nimpson took fifth with a mark of 38'4" while Erin Vanderhoof placed seventh in the seeded long jump with a 17'5 1/4" mark. In the unseeded rounds, Allison Smith took fourth (5'3") and Hannah Boyce placed fifth (5'1") in the high jump, while Beth Getty had a 14th place finish (32'1/4") in the triple jump.

The Hawks placed third in both the 4x400m and the distance medley relay in 3:54.18 and 12:32.51, respectively.

SJU competes next at Princeton on Saturday, January 23.
