PHILADELPHIA -
Saint Joseph's redshirt freshman Ashley Robinson will miss the 2010-11 season after tearing the Achilles tendon in her right leg, SJU women's basketball head coach Cindy Griffin announced on Tuesday.
Robinson, who missed the 2009-10 season after tearing the Achilles tendon in her left leg, was injured during practice last week.
"We are heart broken for Ashley. She was looking forward to this year after missing last season with an injury," Griffin said. "It is unfortunate and we certainly had big expectations for her as she did for herself. But we know she's going to work hard to fully recover and be ready for next season."
A three-time All-Catholic League honoree at Archbishop Wood High School, Robinson earned Street and Smith's Honorable Mention All-American as a junior and a senior. Averaging 13.9 points and 6.2 rebounds per game as a junior, she went on to score over 1,000 career points at Archbishop Wood.
Saint Joseph's opens the season November 12 when the Hawks host Providence at 5 p.m.
