Box Score

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Saint Joseph's women's basketball team dropped its second straight game, shooting a season-low 27.9 percent from the field in losing at Lehigh, 46-40, Wednesday afternoon at Stabler Arena. The Hawks, who got a game-high 17 points from junior guard Michelle Baker, were held to just 17-of-61 from the floor and went 4-of-8 from the foul line.

Despite the poor shooting, Saint Joseph's entered the second half up 14-12, but allowed Lehigh to hang around.

Lehigh broke a 32-32 tie as it went on an 8-0 run from 6:41 to 3:01 to gain momentum. The Mountain Hawks' Erica Prosser scored six of her team-high 16 points during that stretch and capped it with a pair of free throws.

Facing its biggest deficit of the game, the Hawks fought back to make it a one-possession contest. Saint Joseph's caused three turnovers over the next two minutes as a layup by sophomore guard Ashley Prim made it a 42-40 game with 32 seconds remaining.

Prosser hit a pair of free throws to extend Lehigh's lead to 44-40 with 19 seconds left.

Off a Saint Joseph's timeout, the Hawks worked the ball around to freshman guard Erin Sheilds for three with 10 seconds to go. Unfortunately for SJU, the ball was off the mark and the Mountain Hawks sealed the game with a layup in the final moments.

In the first half, both teams struggled offensively, with the Hawks going more than 10 minutes without scoring. Saint Joseph's shot 6-of-29 from the floor (20.7 percent), while Lehigh converted just 4-of-22 (18.2 percent) in the first stanza.

The game's biggest discrepancy came at the foul line where Saint Joseph's shot 4-of-8 for the game, while Lehigh hit 18-of-25.

Individually, Baker was the only Hawk in double figures, scoring 13 of her 17 points in the second half. Junior forward Kelly Cavallo added a team-best nine rebounds.

Prosser paced Lehigh with 16 points, while Courtney Dentler grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.

Saint Joseph's returns to action this Friday and Saturday at the Big Easy Classic. The Hawks face host Tulane Friday at 8 p.m. at Detroit-Mercy Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
