Haverford, Pa. - The Saint Joseph's men's track team opened the 2010-11 indoor track season at the Jack Pyrah Invitational hosted by Villanova at Haverford Alumni Field House. Sophomore Garrett Barbalinardo won the 800-meter run to pace the Hawks on Friday.

Barbalinardo finished in 2:00.14 while senior Jesse Brooks followed in 2:01.02 to take second place in the event.

The 4x400-meter relay squad also took second with a time of 3:24.59 while senior Luke Fischer had a third-place performance in the 1,000-meter run (2:30.10).

Among Saint Joseph's other top performers was junior David Smith in the 500-meter (1:07.49) while junior Tom DiNatale took seventh in the 300m with a time of 36.29 seconds and took 10th in the 55-meter dash (6.73).

In jumps John DiPersio placed seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 40'11" while Michael Yap took eighth in the long jump (19'1/2").

The Hawks return to action on Saturday when they compete in the New Year's Invitational at Princeton.
