The Saint Joseph's men's track team placed 6-of-10 teams competing at the Atlantic 10 Championships in Kingston, R.I. on Saturday. Andrew Townsend, Kevin McDonnell, and Luke Fischer took third in 1,000m, 5,000m and mile, respectively.
Townsend took fifth in the 1,000m preliminaries in 2:30.00 and improved to an IC4A qualifying time of 2:27.45, while Brian Guterl also qualified for finals placing sixth overall in 2:30.84.
McDonnell ran the 5,000 meter in 14:47.82 to come in third and Jonathan Sclafani took ninth in 15:11.04 while Luke Fischer ran the mile in 4:18.35.
Ryan Garvin finished sixth (1:57.28) in the 800 meter run to qualify for finals and finished seventh overall in a time of 1:56.25, while John DiPersio also took seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 43'9".
In the 400 meter dash Connor Hubschman and David Smith qualified for finals and finished eighth (50.62) and ninth (51.18), respectively.
In relays the Hawks took fourth in the distance medley (10:07.36) and 4x800m (7:50.82) with IC4A qualifying times and placed fifth in the 4x400m in 3:24.83.
SJU competes at NYU on Friday before traveling to Boston, Mass. for the IC4A Championships March 6-7.
