Men's Track Competes in Penn Relays

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Saint Joseph's men's track team competed in the Penn Relays at Franklin Field from Thursday through Saturday. The meet was highlighted by a fourth place finish in the 4x400-meter relay.

The 4x400 squad composed of David Smith, Steven Philbrook, Garrett Barbalinardo, and Jared Sabre ran to a fourth place finish with a collective time of 3:18.58.

The Hawks turned in season-best performances in the 4x800-meter relay and the distance medley relay. Andrew Townsend, Luke Fischer, and Steve Young took 21st of 35 teams competing in the 4x800 with a time of 7:44.74 while the same squad including Brian Guterl placed 19th of 27 teams to finish in 10:01.12 in the distance medley.

SJU also competed in the sprint medley relay for the first time this season, recording a time of 3:22.57.

The Hawks will compete in the Atlantic 10 Championships on Saturday and Sunday in Kingston, R.I.
