The Saint Joseph's men's track team competed in the Atlantic 10 Championships at the Massachusetts Track and Field Complex on Saturday and Sunday. The Hawks' performances were highlighted by season-best performances by the 4x400 meter relay squad which took second and Jared Sabre's fifth place finish in the 400-meter dash.
The 4x400 squad finished in an IC4A qualifying time of 3:15.02 while the Hawks also had a season-best time (7:34.08) in the 4x800 meter relay, good for a sixth place finish.
Sabre ran the 400-meter in 48.52 seconds while Tom DiNatale and Drew Brandt also had season-best finishes in sprints. DiNatale finished first for the Hawks in the 200-meter dash in 22.46 while Brandt followed in 22.49 and was the team's top finisher in the 100-meter (11.19).
In hurdles Steven Philbrook had a season-best time of 54.77 seconds and finished eighth of 20 competing in the 400-meter hurdles.
In the distance events, Jonathan Mazzio had a season-best time of 9:51.16 to finish ninth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. In the 10,000-meter Jonathan Sclafani took seventh (30:48.45) while Luke Fischer took eighth in the 1,500-meter in 3:56.17.
Saint Joseph's finished 11th for the two-day event with 20 points in the 11-team competition. The Hawks will compete in Swarthmore Last Chance on Monday, May 10, before heading to the IC4A Championships the following Saturday.
