Women's Basketball Puts Three-Game Win Streak On the Line at Duquesne on Wednesday

PITTSBURGH - Saint Joseph's women's basketball team puts its three-game win streak on the line Wednesday as the Hawks travel to Duquesne for a 7 p.m. tip at the A.J. Palumbo Center. The game will be streamed live online on the Saint Joseph's Sports Network.

GAME STORIES . . .
• The Hawks enter Wednesday game with a 35-5 series edge over the Dukes, including a 69-58 win last year at Hagan Arena (2/28/10). However, all five loses have come on the road at Duquesne, with Saint Joseph's holding a 12-5 advantage in road contests.
• Wednesday's contest is a matchup of two of the top defenses in the Atlantic 10. The Hawks are giving up just 56.8 points per game, while Duquesne is allowing opponents to score just 59.1 points a game. Likewise, the Dukes are holding opponents to just 35.8 percent shooting from the field, with SJU holding teams to 36.4 percent shooting.
• Saint Joseph's had four players score in double figures in Saturday's win over Richmond. It is just the third time this season four Hawks have scored in double digits, with the previous two occurring against Providence and New Hampshire.
• Freshman Erin Shields and junior Katie Kuester have accounted for 81 of Saint Joseph's 110 three pointers this year. The duo has been counted on more so in Atlantic 10 play as they have hit 35 of the team's 41 field goals from behind the arc.
• Despite having two players currently average more than 10 points a game overall, the Hawks have had a balanced attach in Atlantic 10 play, with the top five scorers averaging between 9.2 points per game (Erin Shields) and 8.1 points per game (Kelly Cavallo).
• This month, the Hawks have already surpassed their total amount of wins in January (two). Saint Joseph's is currently 3-0 in February after going 2-5 in January.
