Women's Basketball Looks To Snap Losing Streak at Rhode Island on Saturday

KINGSTON, R.I. - Saint Joseph's women's basketball team continues its three-game road swing as it heads to Rhode Island for a 2 p.m. meeting with the Rams Saturday at the Ryan Center. Fans can listen to the game for free on the Saint Joseph's Sports Network.

GAME STORIES . . .
• The Hawks have lost its previous two games heading into Saturday and haven't played since losing at Dayton, 79-68, last Saturday. SJU has dropped five of its last six contests after losing just four games during the nonconference slate.
• Saturday's contest with Rhode Island is the 54th meeting between the squads. The Hawks have won more games against the Rams, 47, than any other team. They are 47-6 all-time versus Rhode Island and have won the previous six meetings.
• The Hawks and Rams will be wearing pink Saturday as the teams take part in the WBCA's Pink Zone program to help promote breast cancer awareness.
• Freshman guard Erin Shields is coming off a season-best 22 points and seven rebounds at Dayton last Saturday. Shields went 7-of-11 from the floor, 5-of-7 from three-point range and 3-of-3 from the foul line.
• Shields and junior Katie Kuester have accounted for 69 of Saint Joseph's 96 three pointers this year. The duo has been counted on more so in Atlantic 10 play as they have hit 22 of the team's 27 field goals from behind the arc.
• Freshman forward Ilze Gotfrida tallied 16 points off the bench last Saturday at Dayton. It was her second highest output of the season and highest in A-10 play.
• Saturday's game is a homecoming for freshman forward/center Allie Jones. A native of Wakefield, Rhode Island, Jones has seen action in just six games this season due to injury.
