The Hawks are 1-1 on their current road swing and are coming off a 59-55 victory at Rhode Island on Saturday in which they overcame an 11-point deficit.
Saturday's win over Rhode Island snapped a two-game losing streak for Saint Joseph's and helped the Hawks into a tie for eighth place in the Atlantic 10 alongside La Salle at 3-5.
The Hawks enter Wednesday's game at Fordham with a 30-3 edge in the all-time series. Saint Joseph's, which also defeated the Rams (48-23, 3/3/72) prior to becoming a Division I team in 1973-74, has won nine straight games against the Rams and are 11-1 at Rose Hill Gym.
Saint Joseph's post players accounted for 33 of the team's 59 points at Rhode Island on Saturday with juniors Samira Van Grinsven and Kelly Cavallo and freshman Ilze Gotfrida each scoring 10 points apiece. Senior Dominique Bryant accounted for the other three points.
Junior forward/center Samira Van Grinsven added a team-high seven rebounds and helped preserve SJU's win over Rhode Island with a steal and a pair of free throws with less than five seconds to go in the game.
Junior forward Kelly Cavallo is coming off a career-high five blocked shots at Rhode Island. The Hawks' starting power forward is averaging 1.25 blocks per game in Atlantic 10 contests.
Freshman Erin Shields and junior Katie Kuester have accounted for 71 of Saint Joseph's 99 three pointers this year. The duo has been counted on more so in Atlantic 10 play as they have hit 24 of the team's 30 field goals from behind the arc.
