STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Highlighted by four ECAC-qualifying performances and a win in the DMR, the women's track and field team competed at the Penn State National Invitational this Friday and Saturday at Ashenfelter III Indoor Track.

The DMR team of senior captain Sara Walker and juniors Katie Pratt, Emma Slattery, and Elizabeth Barrett won their event with an ECAC-qualifying time of 11:53.95. The quartet ran more than 14 seconds faster than the 2012-13 ECAC qualifying standard in their winning performance.

Pratt and Barrett also went on to qualify for ECACs in additional events. Pratt anchored the 4x400m relay team of junior Jaclyn Kogut and freshmen Dannah Hayward and Marina Rufo that won their heat and eventually took ninth with an ECAC-qualifying time of 3:51.09. The time stands as a new school record in the event as the quartet beat the previous time of 3:51.17 set by Guthridge, Lentz, Victory, and Ladden in 2004.

"Each person ran a personal record and simply ran great," said head coach Kevin Quinn of his 4x400m relay group.

Barrett took third place in the 1000m run with an ECAC-qualifying time of 2:55.76 - a personal record.

Junior Erin James qualified for ECACs in the 5000m run with a personal-record time of 17:22.13, good for a third-place finish.

Pratt (1:16.73) and Hayward (1:16.97, personal record) took sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 500m dash while Walker (3:05.39) placed eighth in the 1000m run.

Slattery finished sixth in the mile with a personal-record time of 5:01.14 while senior captain Hannah Boyce rounded out the top ten in the high jump with a mark of 1.65m (5' 1/2").

The Hawks are back in action next weekend as they travel to New Haven, Conn. to compete in Yale's Giegengack Invitational. Start time on Friday, February 1 is set for 5:00 p.m.
