NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The men's track and field team competed in Yale's ninth annual Giegengack Invitational this Friday and Saturday at Coxe Cage. Highlighted by two first-place performances in the 500m dash and 4x400m relay, Saint Joseph's qualified for IC4As in five different events: 4x400m relay, 800m run, 1000m run, 3000m run, and DMR.

Sophomore Tyler Gallen posted Saint Joseph's only individual win of the weekend as he checked in with a 1:04.84 in the 500m dash. Gallen has already qualified for IC4As in the 500m dash, posting a 1:04.77 at the Penn State Relays back on January 5 of this season.

Gallen took home a second gold medal as he ran the second leg of SJU's 4x400m relay team with junior Jonathan Eisemann, sophomore Brendan Robert, and junior Derrick Henry. The quartet clocked in with an IC4A-qualifying time of 3:19.40 to win its event.

In the 800m run, seniors Dave Manion (1:54.05, PR, IC4A-qualifying time) and Andrew Townsend (1:54.59, PR, IC4A-qualifying time) led the way with third- and fifth-place finishes. In the 1000m run, sophomore Logan Mohn (2:26.88, PR, IC4A-qualifying time), junior Tommy O'Kane (2:27.73, PR, IC4A-qualifying time), and sophomore Steven Butenewicz (2:27.90, PR, IC4A-qualifying time) placed second, third, and fourth, respectively. Junior Aaron Leskow placed second in the 3000m run (8:27.07, IC4A-qualifying time).

Leskow also ran the first leg of the DMR team that saw himself, junior Griff Roberts, O'Kane and Mohn take home silver in the event (9:54.45, IC4A-qualifying time) while the DMR team of senior captain Garrett Barbalinardo, junior James Rodgers, Butenewicz and sophomore Paul Szulewski (10:08.97, IC4A-qualifying time) placed third for the Hawks.

In the shorter-distance performances, freshman Alec Peabody took sixth (7.25) in the 60m dash while Eisemann (22.32), Henry (23.00), and junior Tyler Dougherty (23.04) all won their individual heats in the 200m dash in route to third-, ninth-, and 10th-place finishes, respectively.

Four Hawks placed for SJU in the 400m dash. Freshman Christopher Banks (50.12, PR) tied for third place, followed by Eisemann (50.13, PR) in fifth in his first collegiate 400m. Barbalinardo (50.44, PR) and Henry (50.49) checked in at eighth and ninth place, respectively.

The 500m dash saw Roberts (1:05.70), junior Peter Larmann (1:05.96, PR), and Robert (1:06.18, season-best time) take fifth, sixth, and seventh, respectively.

Donnelly improved on his previous season best in the event, set just three weekends ago at the NYC Gotham Cup, by over 24 seconds.

The DMR team of Manion and sophomore trio Matthew McGarvey, James Gentile, and Deckert crossed the finish line in fifth place (10:23.85).
