In the opener, the Hawks jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as Dana Parks scored on a RBI double by Monica Aguilar.

Loyola Marymount tied the game in the bottom of the first, but neither team would score from there as the game remained tied through seven innings.

Maria Ficca gave SJU the Hawks a 2-1 lead in the top of the eighth as she scored on a fielding error, but Loyola Marymount tied the game in the bottom of the inning, forcing another extra inning.

Sarah Yoos scored on a RBI single by Deanna Stinner in the ninth, but again Loyola Marymount rallied, scoring in the bottom of the inning.

The Hawks would tally the game-winning run in the 10th as Parks scored on a fielding error, while senior Taryn Ashway held the opposing batters at a distance to earn the 10-inning victory, adding 10 strikeouts.

In the nightcap, Parks and Yoos gave SJU an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second on RBI singles, but Central Michigan scored the next eight runs, taking an 8-2 lead into the bottom of the seventh.

The Hawks (4-1-1) would tally a run on a solo shot by Nicole Palase, but wouldn't get any closer in losing their first game of the year.
