Baseball Drops Series Finale at Temple

AMBLER, Pa. - The Saint Joseph's baseball team took an early lead, but Temple scored in seven of its eight offensive innings to take Sunday's series finale, 11-1, at Skip Wilson Field. Chris Hueth had an RBI single to drive in the Hawks' run.

Saint Joseph's (10-12 overall, 2-1 Atlantic 10) took a first-inning lead as Kevin Kratochwill led off the game with a double and came in to score on Hueth's single.

Unfortunately for the Crimson and Gray, Temple (8-11 overall, 1-2 Atlantic 10) bounced back with two runs in the bottom of the first to take the lead. The Owls then added one in each of the next three innings before adding a four-spot in the fifth.

The Owls then added singletons in the sixth and eighth to close out the scoring.

Dan Moller (1-2) earned the win for Temple, allowing one run on five hits in five innings, while Daniel Thorpe (2-3) took the loss. Thorpe allowed five runs on nine hits in four innings.

Stefan Kancylarz and Greg Kumpel had two hits apiece for the Hawks, while David Hall was 3-for-4 to lead the Owls.

Saint Joseph's will now head to Delaware on Tuesday to open the defense of its Liberty Bell Classic title. Game time from Newark is set for 2:00 p.m.
