Box Score BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior forward Jordan Martin scored both goals as the Saint Joseph's field hockey team opened its season with a 2-1 win at Lehigh on Friday afternoon. The win marks the first for new head coach Lynn Farquhar.
Martin followed her own rebound and put the Hawks on top with just under 10 minutes to play in the game to secure the victory.
Lehigh (0-1) took an early lead on a tally by Lindsey Schott after a penalty corner just 3:34 into the match.
Martin opened her account for the season just 15 seconds before halftime, taking a feed from Katja Hansen on a corner opportunity and sliding it past Lehigh's Julia Ward for the equalizer.
Saint Joseph's (1-0) outshot the Mountain Hawks 22-16 on the day. Amelia Deibler made eight saves for the Hawks, while Ward made 13 for Lehigh.
The Hawks will play their home opener on Sunday afternoon when they host Towson at 1:00 p.m. at Ellen Ryan Field.
