HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - The Saint Joseph's women's basketball team had its two-game win streak snapped on Saturday as the Hawks fell at Hofstra, 75-62. Despite a team-high 21 points from Kathleen Fitzpatrick, SJU couldn't overcome early offensive troubles as it falls to 2-4 on the season.

Shooting just 22.7 percent (5-of-22) in the first half, the Hawks fell quickly behind as the Pride ran out to an 11-2 lead. 

Despite going 0-for-10 from the floor to start, Saint Joseph's fought back to make it an 11-7 contest on a pair of free throws by Fitzpatrick with 2:12 to go in the opening quarter.

From there, Hofstra began to pull away. Using an 18-6 run that spanned the opening two quarters, the Pride pushed their lead to 29-13 on a layup by Sandra Dongmo at the 4:33 mark of the second quarter.

Behind a 9-2 run, the Hawks would come within nine, 31-22 as sophomore Chelsea Woods opened the third quarter with a three-point play after Alyssa Monaghan closed the second with a pair of three-pointers.

That would be as close as the Hawks would get as Hofstra pushed its lead to as many as 21 in the final quarter.

For the game, SJU shot 37.5 percent overall (21-of-56), hit 7-of-14 from three-point range and went 13-of-15 from the foul line (86.7 percent). Fitzpatrick added a team-high five rebounds, while Monaghan was the only other Hawk in double figures, scoring a season-high 16 points to go with a team-high three assists.

At the other end, Hofstra went 24-of-56 from the field (42.9 percent), 8-of-20 from behind the arc and 19-of-27 from the foul line (70.4 percent). Kelly Loftus led four Pride players in double figures with 24 points.

Saint Joseph's returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts Big 5 rival Penn at 5 p.m.
