Box Score PHILADELPHIA – The University of the Sciences men's basketball team outscored Caldwell in the second half, 38-31, but the Devils could ultimately not overcome a game-opening drought in a 78-64 loss at Bobby Morgan Arena on Wednesday evening.
Caldwell scored the first 11 points of the game after USciences did not score for the first 6:51. Following the Devils' first basket turned out to be the only point in which they did not trail by double-figures, as the Cougars opened the contest on an 18-3 surge over the first 8:39.
Trailing 47-26 at the half, University of the Sciences got as close as 12, 56-44, with 10:26 remaining when a Cameron Hoffman layup capped an 18-7 flurry, but the Devils could not manage to get the deficit back to single digits.
Jordan White was a bright spot for USciences, leading all players with 20 points.
Javon Gordon was also in double-figures with a season-best 13 points off the bench, adding a team-high three steals.
Hoffman grabbed a career and game-high 10 rebounds, while Paddy Casey led all players with five assists.
University of the Sciences is back at home this Saturday to host Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North leader Post at 3 p.m.
