PHILADELPHIA – Javon Gordon led University of the Sciences with new season-bests of 23 points and six assists in the Devils' 85-74 loss at Nyack on Saturday afternoon. 

The Warriors would score the first seven points in the opening 1:32 and lead throughout, despite USciences getting as close as one, 21-22, on Gordon's layup with 7:31 to play in the first half.

Gordon also made it a two-point game, 26-28, with a 3-pointer 1:44 later, but Nyack would quickly respond with nine unanswered in less than two minutes.

Although the Devils cut the halftime deficit to 34-39 with an 8-2 surge entering the locker room, they could never make it a one-possession game again.  

The Warriors made sure of that after opening the second half on a 9-2 flurry over the first 3:33, establishing a two-possession advantage for good.  

University of the Sciences got as close as seven three times from that point on, the final occurrence coming when a Sean Simon jumper made the score 60-53 with 10:08 remaining.  

Simon was second on the Devils with 22 points and three assists off the bench.  

Gordon also came off the bench to make 9-of-14 field goals and 4-of-6 from beyond the arc in his season-best performance, as the USciences reserves outscored Nyack's 52-10. 

University of the Sciences also had a higher shooting percentage than Nyack, 47.5-47.1, but the Warriors forced 19 Devils turnovers that turned into a 19-8 edge in points off turnovers. 

Connor Murphy made it three Devils in double-figures with 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting, and the freshman led all players with 10 rebounds for his seventh double-double of the season.   

University of the Sciences returns home for the first time in two and a half weeks to host Goldey-Beacom this Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
