BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Saint Joseph's field hockey team remained at #11 in this week's National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I Coaches Poll, the organization announced on Tuesday afternoon.
The Hawks improved to 10-3 overall and 4-0 in the Atlantic 10 on Friday with a 6-0 rout of Lock Haven.Â
Freke van Tilburg scored twice and added an assist, while
Robin Bleekemolen posted her sixth shutout of the season between the pipes to earn Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week honors. Freshman
Sol Borensztein tallied a goal and an assist in the game to lead her to the league's Rookie of the Week award.
Four of the Hawks' previous opponents inhabit the top 10, as Rutgers moved up two spots to third while Penn State slipped one place to fifth, Maryland held steady at eighth, and North Carolina fell one spot to 10th. The Hawks earned victories over both North Carolina and Rutgers two days apart on September 10 and 12.
Another previous opponent, Delaware, hopped up a spot to #20, switching places with UMass, which came in at #21 this week ahead of the meeting between the Hawks and Minutewomen in Amherst on Friday. The Hawks will then head to Boston College, which moved up two spots to #12, on Sunday. SJU's final regular season opponent, Ohio State, fell three spots and was ranked 19th in this week's poll.
Iowa and Michigan remain unbeaten and atop the poll, with Rutgers, Louisville, and Penn State rounding out the top five.
