Men's Basketball Erases Early Double-Digit Deficit at Lincoln, Before Lions Pull Away for 84-67 Win

Box Score

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The USciences men's basketball team erased an early double-digit deficit to momentarily take a lead late in the first, only to have Lincoln close the half strong before pulling away in the second for an 84-67 win over the Devils on Wednesday night.

The Lions scored the first five points of the contest and would build a first-half-high 10-point advantage, 21-11, on a 3-pointer 7:31 in.

Jordan Davidson made a triple of his own 21 seconds later, and USciences would slowly chip away as seven straight points by Joemel McNair gave the Devils their first and only lead, 31-30, on his trifecta 3:12 ahead of the break.

That lead lasted for just 23 seconds though, as Lincoln answered with a 3-pointer to begin a 12-2 spurt to end the half and establish a nine-point advantage, 42-33, entering the locker room.

The Lions would then score the first six points of the second en route to leading by double-digits the remainder of the night.

McNair and Omari Salvi, who made his first career start, each had the game's second-highest point total with 15.

McNair made 5-of-7 field goals, his lone 3-point attempt and 4-of-5 free throws, while Salvi made 4-of-5 field goals, both of his 3-point attempts and 5-of-6 free throws after previously scoring one point in his lone collegiate appearance.

Davidson, Sean Simon and Darious Brown all added eight pints, which matched the latter's career-best, while Austin Kennedy notably tied a game-high with four assists.

In a game that was fairly even statistically, Lincoln outscored USciences 33-18 in points off turnovers, despite committing only three less, 20-17. The Lions also shot 52.0 percent (13-of-25) from beyond the arc, compared to the Devils' 34.6 percent (9-of-26).

University of the Sciences opens Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play at Georgian Court this Saturday at 2 p.m.
