• The Hawks and Quakers renew their rivalry on Wednesday as Saint Joseph's looks to extend its 52-37 edge in the all-time series.
• Sparked by 11 consecutive points from Ryan Daly during a crucial stretch of the second half, Saint Joseph's topped Big 5 rival Penn, 87-81, in the previous matchup on January 18, 2020 at The Palestra.
• The Hawks and Quakers paused their yearly matchup last season because the Ivy League did not compete during the 2020-21 season.
• Wednesday marks the first time since January 21, 1995 that Saint Joseph's and Penn have played on Hawk Hill.
• The Hawks won that meeting at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse, 92-82, in overtime.
BROWN EARNS STARTING NOD
Making the jump from key reserve to starter versus Georgetown, junior Cameron Brown has excelled in his new role. Helping the Hawks to a 2-1 mark since joining the starting lineup, Brown has averaged 9.0 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists and 2.0 steals per game.Â
OBINNA OFF TO CAREER-BEST START
Despite being only eight games into the season, starting center Ejike Obinna has made an instant impact for the Hawks as he enters Wednesday averaging a career-high 12.4Â points and 6.8Â rebounds per game. A three-year letterwinner at Vanderbilt, Obinna came to Hawk Hill as a graduate transfer having averaged 2.9 points and 3.0 rebounds per game for his career. Along with new highs in scoring and rebounding this year, Obinna also has collected the first two double-doubles of his career, earning them against Monmouth and #24 USC.
