PHILADELPHIA – After multiple postponements and a rescheduling, Saint Joseph's will open Atlantic 10 play on Sunday at VCU. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. with the game streaming nationally on ESPN+.
 
ABOUT SAINT JOSEPH'S:

  • St. Joe's is 4-8 overall and haven't played since Dec. 26 when it fell in a close game to Harvard.
  • The Hawks are posting 59.3 ppg and allowing 61.2 ppg, while shooting 39.7% from the floor, 33.0% from long range, and 71.0% from the stripe.
  • Six different Hawks are tallying at least 6.8 points or more per game this season.
  • Graduate student Katie Jekot is leading the squad with 11.6 ppg. She also tops the team with 3.8 assists, 2.1 steals, and 2.3 triples per game. The Enola, Pa. native is fifth in the league in assist to turnover ratio (1.83) and fourth in three-point field goal percentage (38.5%). Jekot has registered double figures in seven of her 11 games this season, including six straight.
  • Junior Kaliah Henderson is the next highest scorer with 11.2 ppg. Henderson also leads the Crimson & Gray with 4.9 rebounds per game. She's eclipsed the 10+ point threshold in five of nine games this season.
  • Rookies Talya Brugler, Laila Fair, Mackenzie Smith, and Julia Nyström have all made significant contributions in their inaugural season. In fact, Brugler and Smith are the only Hawks to play in all 12 games.

ABOUT VCU:

  • The Rams are 6-5 on the season and 1-0 in league play under head coach Beth O'Boyle.
  • VCU defeated Duquesne, 74-70, in its most recent game after having three cancellations wrapped around the Christmas break. The overtime win against the Dukes snapped a three game skid.
  • Collectively, the team is scoring 62.3 points on average this year and allowing 57.7 points, while shooting 38.5% overall, 32.5% from long range, and 69.8% from the line.
  • Five Rams are scoring at least 7.4 ppg this season, led by Taya Robinson (15.0) and Sarah Te-Biasu (12.1).
  • Chloe Bloom and Madison Hattix-Covington are tied for a team high 6.1 rebounds per game.
