PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph's will conclude the regular season at Duquesne on Saturday in a pivotal game that will solidify the teams' standings in the Atlantic 10 Championship. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. with the game streaming nationally on ESPN+.
 
ABOUT SAINT JOSEPH'S:
  • The Hawks are 10-16 overall and 6-8 in league play after falling to Dayton on Wednesday night.
  • SJU is scoring 57.7 points and allowing 59.9 points per game, while shooting 39.3% from the floor, 32.9% from deep, and 71.0% from the line.
  • Six Hawks are above the 5.0 threshold with a pair in double figures.
  • Graduate student Katie Jekot is leading the Hawks in scoring (10.1), assists (4.75), steals (1.65), and assist to turnover ratio (1.83). Her assists per game is third best in the A-10 and 50th in the nation.
  • Rookie Talya Brugler is the next leading scorer (10.0) and sits first in rebounds (5.6). The five-time Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week posts a 49.7 field-goal percentage which ranks eighth in the league. During conference play, the first year has bumped her output to 12.5 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.
  • Freshman Mackenzie Smith is the reigning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week. Smith posts the team's third most points on average with 8.9 and leads the Hawks with a 39.2 three-point field goal percent. That percentage sits sixth in the league. Smith joins Brugler as the only Hawks to appear in every game this season.
  • Freshmen Laila Fair and Julia Nyström had both started eight of the last nine games for the Crimson & Gray. Fair is fourth on the squad with 7.1 points and second with 4.5 rebounds per game. Nyström has been one of the Hawks top defensive players, while tallying the third best three-point field goal percentage in the conference in league games at 43.6.
  • Sophomore Olivia Mullins has filled in for the injured Jekot as the starting point guard. During those five games, she's posted 7.0 points and 3.8 assists per game.
ABOUT DUQUESNE:
  • The Dukes are 11-16, 6-9 A-10 entering Saturday under ninth-year head coach Dan Burt.
  • Duquesne is both scoring and allowing 64.2 points per game this season, while shooting 40.5% overall, 32.7% from long range, and 69.7% from the stripe.
  • Eight Dukes are recording at least 5.0 points per game and are led by a duo in double digits.
  • Tess Myers (12.8) and Fatou Pouye (12.5) are the top scorers.
  • Megan McConnell paces the team in rebounds (6.4) and assists (4.1).
