PHILADELPHIA – Kirsten Wijnsema won in straight sets at No. 2 singles as the USciences women's tennis hosted No. 26 St. Thomas Aquinas at the Hamlin Center on Monday night.
Losing just five games, the result move the sophomore into a tie for third on the team with four singles victories this season.
Charlotte Kordonowy nearly won her team-best seventh singles match after she took a first-set tiebreaker at the first flight against the reigning Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Year. Her opponent would come back to take the final two sets though, 6-3 and 10-5.
In doubles play, Myka Williams and Myra Anwar battled in a 4-6 defeat at the second flight.
University of the Sciences hosts Bloomsburg for its final home match next Thursday at 6 p.m.
