WASHINGTON – Saint Joseph's junior back Adèle Jardemar was named the Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week while senior back Milou Kluyt was named the Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
 
Jardemar scored twice on Friday as the Hawks topped Richmond, 3-1, at Ellen Ryan Field to move to 2-0 in conference play.  After the Spiders tied the game early in the second half, the native of Saint Germain en Laye, France, scored on a penalty corner to restore the lead heading into the fourth quarter.  In that final stanza, she tallied on another corner to essentially put the game away.
 
Hailing from Goirle, Netherlands, Kluyt – the reigning Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year – was at the center of a strong defensive effort on Friday as the Hawks held the high-powered Richmond offense in check.  The Spiders entered play averaging 4.4 goals per game on 20.0 shots and 8.8 penalty corners per game; the Hawk defense conceded just one goal and two corners while holding Richmond to six shots, including just one in each of the first two quarters.
 
Saint Joseph's hits the road this week for a conference matchup at Davidson on Friday evening before visiting Duke on Sunday.
