PHILADELPHIA -
Saint Joseph's Hawks Softball Head Coach Moo Moyer announced outfielder Kate Falasca will transfer to Saint Joseph's for the 2005-06 season.
Appearing in 41 games last season at Fairfield University, Falasca will compete for a starting position in centerfield due to graduation of Megan Richardson in May. The Bethlehem, PA native scored 10 runs and swiped three bags as Fairfield advanced to the 2005 MAAC Tournament, posting a 31-27 record.
"We are excited about what she brings to us," Moyer said. "Kate will add another dimension to our offense with her speed and her slap-hitting game. She also helps solidify our outfield defense."
A four-year starter in both the outfield and at second base, Falasca was named to the 2003 All-Lehigh Valley Conference and All-Area Second Teams.
Saint Joseph's, which earned its fifth consecutive appearance in the Atlantic 10 Championship this season, returns nine letterwinners from the 2005 squad that finished 21-23 overall and 8-6 in the A-10.
