PHILADELPHIA -
Four Hawk standouts were honored this past weekend as the newest members of the Saint Joseph's University Track and Field Hall of Fame. The inductees, Greg Floyd '85, Patrice Gallagher '96, Stephanie Hopkins Muntzer '95, and Tarik Moody '94, were honored along with SJU Director of Track and Field Kevin Quinn and Dr. Nick Robak, the first head coach in the history of the women's track and field program. The Hall of Fame dinner, sponsored by the Alumni Club, was held at the Drexelbrook Catering & Banquet Facility on October 21.
The four inductees have all left their mark on the SJU program. Greg Floyd still holds the school outdoor record in the 110m hurdles, turning in a time of 14.21 seconds in 1985. Patrice Gallagher placed sixth and seventh at the Atlantic 10 Cross Country championships in her final two seasons. She shares the school outdoor record in the 4x1500m relay, and was a part of three relay squads that scored at the ECAC Championships. Stephanie Hopkins Muntzer was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team in 1994, and placed fourth in the conference at both the 1993 and 1994 Cross Country championships. She was also a part of two ECAC-scoring relays during her time on Hawk Hill. Tarik Moody earned third-place honors in the high jump at the 1992 IC4A Outdoor Championships. That result is the best IC4A finish by any Hawk in that event.
In addition to the inductions, the 25th anniversary of the women's cross country and track program was celebrated. Dr. Nick Robak, the first coach of the women's program, was honored for his contributions to the University. Robak, who coached for four seasons from 1981-85, compiled a .651 cross country winning percentage while leading the program in its infancy.
Director of Track and Field and current women's cross country and track head coach Kevin Quinn was honored for his 40 years of service to Saint Joseph's. A 1962 graduate of the University, Quinn returned to his alma mater in 1966 as the men's cross country and track head coach, a position he held for 23 years. In 1985 he took over the women's program, and is now in his 22nd season in that post. Quinn also serves as the associate athletic director for facilities at SJU. A member of the inaugural Track and Field Hall of Fame Class of 1975, he was inducted into the SJU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2001. In honor of his four decades of dedication and commitment to Saint Joseph's track and field, the Alumni Club presented Quinn with a two-week trip to Hawaii as a token of their appreciation.
