PRINCETON, N.J. - The women's track team competed at Princeton's third annual quad meet on Friday afternoon. The Hawks competed against host Princeton, Rutgers, and St. John's to place fourth with a total of 88 points at the Jadwin Gymnasium.
Senior captain Hannah Boyce won the high jump with a mark of 1.67m (5' 5 3/4") to contribute nine points to Saint Joseph's team total. The height marks the third time in Boyce's career that she has hit her personal best mark.
Sophomore Brianna Hunt took fourth with an equal 1.67m (5' 5 3/4").
Junior Emma Slattery took fourth in the 3000m run with a personal-best and ECAC-qualifying time of 9:57.10 while seniors Erin Giampietro and Sara Walker placed ninth and 10th, respectively, for the Hawks.
Sophomore Kayla Charles grabbed six points for the Hawks with her third-place finish in the 60m hurdles. Charles clocked in with a personal-best time of 9.06. Senior Francesca D'Angelo took fifth place with a season-best 9.32 while freshman Dannah Hayward rounded out the top ten with an eighth-place finish at 9.59.
Freshman Carly McGowan recorded SJU's fastest time in the 60m dash with a time of 8.19, good for a 17th-place finish, while junior Mercedes Yanora led the Hawks in the 200m dash with a time of 26.70, good for 13th place.
In her first collegiate 400m dash, Hayward took seventh place with a time of 1:00.04 to earn three points for the Hawks. Junior Jaclyn Kogut placed eighth with a season-best 1:00.18 while Charles checked in at 1:01.28, good for a 10th-place finish.
In her first 500m dash of the season, junior Katie Pratt ran a 1:18.15 to earn four points and a fifth-place finish for SJU.
In the distance events, junior Elizabeth Barrett led the way with her third-place finish in the mile. With a time of 5:00.40, Barrett took just over eight seconds off of her previous personal-best time in the event to grab six points for the Hawks. Junior Erin James took just under six seconds off of her personal-best in the event as she clocked in with a time of 5:06.79, good for fifth place and five points. Classmate Hannah Fuller took sixth in a season-best 5:07.31.
Sophomore Taylor Oskowiak ran the 800m run in a season-best 2:26.44 to place sixth and earn three points while freshman Emily Chaundy ran her first 800m collegiate event in 2:28.73, good for seventh place. In the 1000m run, Sarah Radzwilka took sixth in 3:12.01 to earn three points in her first individual collegiate event while junior Hannah Brown and freshmen Tess Doggett and Kathryn Col rounded out the top ten.
Juniors Emily Chappell (personal-best 18:44.86) and Darcy O'Connor (season-best 20:05.18) took fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 5000m run.
The 4x400m relay team of Hayward, Kogut, sophomore Georgia Mason, and Pratt clocked in at 4:02.63, good for a fifth-place finish.
Sophomore Kathryn Polaski took second in the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 11.51m (37' 9 1/4"). Polaski improved on her previous personal best in the event by just under one foot to collect seven points for the Hawks.
In the long jump, senior captain Genevieve Ruppel placed seventh with a personal-best mark of 5.29m (17' 4 1/4") to bring home four points for SJU. Sophomore Gabriella Becattini took ninth place with a mark of 5.10m (16' 8 3/4") while Polaski rounded out the top ten with a mark of 5.02 (16' 5 3/4").
The Hawks will return to action on Friday, January 25, as half of the team will travel to State College, Pa., to compete in the Penn State National Invitational. Start time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. The two-day meet will end on Saturday, January 26th. The other half of the team will travel to the Thompson Invitational in Newark, Del., to compete on Saturday, January 26, at 9:00 a.m.
