SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Four Hawks ran unattached at the Swarthmore Final Qualifier, held at Swarthmore College's Walter T. Skallerup, Jr. Track at Clothier Field on Monday evening.
All three of SJU's 1500m racers set new collegiate-best times in the event, as sophomore Will Sponaugle placed led the way in 57th (4:01.44 PR), followed by sophomore Tommy Higley (4:02.66 PR) and senior Mike Cassidy (4:17.08 PR).
Junior Anthony Morelli placed 63rd in the 5000m (15:30.80).

The preliminary rounds of the 2017 NCAA East Regional Outdoor Championships will run from Thursday, May 25 through Saturday, May 27 at the University of North Florida's Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla. The three days of competition will feature the top collegiate athletes east of the Mississippi River. For each individual event contested at each of the preliminary championships competition sites, the top 48 declared student-athletes are accepted into competition.
Senior Torey Doaty's season-best 400m hurdles time of 52.39, set at the IC4A Championships on Sunday, ranks 46th while senior Dan Savage's collegiate-best 3000m steeplechase time of 9:04.05, set at IC4As on Friday, ranks 50th. Senior Jimmy Daniels sits 69th in the 10k (30:06.04).
The official declaration list will be released by the NCAA this week.
