The Saint Joseph's women's soccer team dropped its Atlantic 10 opener to Saint Louis, 2-0, Thursday evening at Sweeney Field.
After a scoreless first half, a pair of goals by the Billikens' Maddie Pokorny proved to be the difference in the second stanza. Pokorny gave Saint Louis a 1-0 edge as she struck inside the SJU box off a centering pass Emma Farley at 69:48, and followed with a goal from the right side of the box at 78:17 to make it 2-0.
Saint Joseph's (5-3-2, 0-1-0 A-10) would manage one of its best scoring chances in the final minutes, but couldn't convert.
For the game, junior Kylie D'Ambra led the Hawks with a team-high three shots, while senior goalkeeper Grace Bendon made a game-high five saves.
Olivia Silverman made one save in Saint Louis' win as the Billikens improved to 6-3-1 overall and 1-0-0 in conference play.
The Hawks are back in action on Sunday at rival La Salle at 1 p.m.
