Men's Basketball Starts Slow in Loss at Southern Connecticut State on Saturday

Box Score

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The University of the Sciences men's basketball team failed to score for the first 4:58, allowing Southern Connecticut State to jump out to a 10-0 lead, in an eventual 80-52 loss to the Owls on Saturday afternoon.

The Devils were only able to get as close as eight twice, as the two teams traded the next four baskets after SCSU went up 10-0.

Nine unanswered gave Southern Connecticut State a 21-4 advantage 9:20 into play, and the cushion would remain in double-digits the reminder of the afternoon.

Sean Simon fell one point shy of double-figures, while Connor Murphy added eight points and a team-high five rebounds.

Freshman Darious Brown also scored eight points, a new season-best.

Paddy Casey had a team-high two assists, while tying for a game-high with two steals.

University of the Sciences closes out 2019 with its non-conference finale at Cheyney on Monday, Dec. 30 at 6 p.m.
