Saint Joseph's University head softball coach Terri Adams has announced the additions of assistant coaches Alexis Berg and Jaime Dacey to the Hawks' bench.
Beginning her first season on Hawk Hill, Berg brings several years of experience to Saint Joseph's. Berg, who spent the past year working as a law clerk for Thompson, Meier and Derson while completing her degree at Ohio Northern University College of Law, served as assistant coach at Ohio Northern from 2004-05. There, she coached both hitting and infielding, while spending time recruiting and conducting several youth camps. Prior to that, she spent three years, 2001-03, as a head coach for the annual Tiffin University Fall Classic.
On the field, Berg excelled as a player at Tiffin University. A three-year starter at third base, she helped lead Tiffin to consecutive AMC Championships (2002 and 2003) and three straight AMC Regional Finals (2001-03). As a junior, She was named to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA NAIA All-Great Lakes Region Team and All-AMC First Team. Berg twice earned both AMC and NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors, as well as being named a 2003 NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete. She graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Criminal Justice from Tiffin in 2003.
A 2005 graduate of Shippensburg University, Dacey enters her first year as a Division I assistant coach. A four-year standout at Shippensburg, she led her team to two NCAA Division II National Championships and three Regional Tournaments. Dacey finished her collegiate career the program's leader in career batting average (.420), triples (23), RBIs (156) and is tied for first in career stolen bases (49). A multiple First Team All-PSAC and First Team All-Region, she additionally ranked first among Shippensburg's single-season leaders in hits (78), triples (11), RBIs (58), and slugging percentage (.852). As a senior, Dacey was named PSAC Player of the Year after posting the highest batting average in Division II (.549 average) and earned First Team All-American honors.
Dacey also excelled off the diamond, earning Verizon Academic All-District 1st Team, PSAC and NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete accolades. She also earned ASA Women's Majors Fastpitch All-American in both 2004 and 2005 after helping StormUSA to a second and third place finish in 2004 and 2005, respectively. Dacey also is a current member of the Philadelphia Force of the National Pro Fastpitch League.
