PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's track team rode victories in the 800m, 5000m and 60m hurdles to pace the group on the second day of the Giegengack Invitational at Yale On Saturday. Kelsey Rose took the 800m while Maureen O'Donnell won the 5000m and Georgia Mason won the 60m hurdles.
Mason bested the field as the only sprinter to finish under nine seconds in the 60m hurdles at 8.98. Crossing the line behind her in second place was Stefani Zabilowicz at 9.02.
Rose's time of 2:13.11 in the 800m was good enough to earn gold as Elizabeth Barrett finished in third at 2:18.85. Fifth place went to Katie Pratt crossing the line at 2:23.23.
Maureen O'Donnell continues an excellent season with another win in the 5000m finishing the race at 17:31.16 with fellow Hawk, Hannah Fuller just behind her at 17:34.42. The two finished nearly a half minute ahead of the competition to capture first and second place.
Anna Casey took third in the 1000m at 2:59.52 while Emma Slattery completed the 3000m in 10:02.11 to also capture a third place finish.
The jumps were highlighted by three third place finishes by three different Hawks. Hannah Boyce posted a mark of 5-05.00 in the high jump as Genevieve Ruppel had a 17-00.00 mark in the long jump. Katie Pratt captured third with a mark of 36-07.50 in the triple jump.
The women return to action on Friday at the Lafayette/Rider Invitational in New York, N.Y.
