Men's Track Heads to Colonial Relays This Weekend

PHILADELPHIA – Coming off of a fourth-place team finish at the Lafayette 8-Way Meet last weekend, the Saint Joseph's men's track and field team will compete at the William and Mary 49th Annual Colonial Relays this Friday and Saturday, April 4-5, down in Williamsburg, Va. The meet welcomes over 50 colleges and universities, 17 club teams, and 40 high schools to Zable Stadium.

RunnerSpace.com and CNU will be offering live video, free of charge, all day Friday and Saturday. The coverage will include all in-stadium events with the exception of the throwing events. Live results will also be made available via HalfMileTiming.com.

Alongside Saint Joseph's, participating colleges and universities include American, Bucknell, Charlotte, Cheyney (M), Christopher Newport, Delaware (W), Delaware State, District of Columbia (W), Duquesne, Fordham, George Mason, Georgetown, Hampton, Hartford, Haverford, Holy Cross, Iona, James Madison (W), La Salle, Loyola (Md.), Mansfield, Marist, Mary Washington (M), Monmouth, Mount Olive, Mount St. Mary's, Norfolk State, Pittsburgh, Quinnipiac (W), Richard Bland College, Richmond (W), Rider, Robert Morris, Shippensburg, St. Francis (N.Y.), St. Francis (Pa.), St. Joseph's, Stonehill, Stony Brook, TCNJ, Temple, UMass Lowell, UMBC, VCU, Villanova, Virginia Tech, Virginia Wesleyan, Wagner, West Virginia Wesleyan, and host-school William and Mary.

Sprinter Chris Banks (400m) and middle distance runners Jamie Gentile (800m) and Quinn Davis (1500m) won their respective events to lead the Saint Joseph's men's track and field team to 88 total points for a fourth-place finish at the outdoor season-opening Lafayette 8-Way Invitational on Saturday, March 29

LAST SEASON AT THE 48TH ANNUAL COLONIAL RELAYS – Recap | Results
Five relay teams combined for 32 points and three long distance runners qualified for IC4As as the Saint Joseph's men's track and field team took sixth place with a combined 52 points out of 30 teams at William and Mary's 48th Annual Colonial Relays on April 7, 2013. Saint Joseph's 4x1500m and DMR groups combined for 16 points. In the 4x1500m, Dan Roark, Paul Szulewski, Quinn Davis, and Michael Rankin took home the silver medal (15:57.40) out of 11 teams.

CURRENT EVENT LEADERS – Team Performance List
After SJU's outdoor season-opening meet at Lafayette last weekend, freshman Kevin Barry (200m) and sophomore Chris Banks (400m) own the sprints while junior Jamie Gentile (800m), sophomore Quinn Davis (1500m), and graduate student Jon Mazzio (3k) lead the middle distance events. Freshman hurdler Torey Doaty leads the squad in the 400H while senior Mike Yap and rookie Prince Charles Yakubu have posted the team's only marks in the long and triple jumps, respectively.

HAWKS IN THE ATLANTIC 10 – Conference Performance List
While 10 Hawks rank in the top ten of five different events after one weekend of outdoor competition, freshman Prince Charles Yakubu is the sole Hawk to own a top-five spot as the rookie ranks fourth in the conference in the triple jump (12.07m). 

IC4A QUALIFIERS – IC4A Performance List
Sophomore sprinter Alec Peabody's indoor 200m time (21.56) qualifies him along with SJU's three indoor relays for the 2014 IC4A Outdoor Championships.
