PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's men's track team captured victories in the 500m, 3000m and the 4x400m events to pace the squad on the second day at the Giegengack Invitational. Tyler Gallen and Kevin McDonnell turned in first place performances to lead the Hawks.
Gallen took the 500m in a close race with a time of 1:04.11 and captain Dylan Wenik finished just behind in third place at 1:04.52.
The 3000m went to Kevin McDonnell who continues a dominant season as he crossed the stripe at 8:25.23. Paul Szulewski came in third at 8:35.54 while Dan Roark turned in a 8:36.91 time which was good enough for fourth place.
The 4x400m relay team tuned in a meet best time of 3:17.89 to take gold. Logan Mohn turned in a third place effort in the 1000m at 2:29.11 to help of SJU.
Jon Eisemann had a solid day as he took fourth in the 60m at 7.09 and third in the 200m at 22.38. Fellow Hawk, Derek Henry notched a third place time in the 400m with a time of 49.72.
Three more Hawks earned fifth place finishes on the day in the 800m, 5000m and in the mile. Andrew Townsend ran a 1:54.93 800m while Michael Rankin finished the mile in 4:17.99 and Patrick Donnelly completed the 5000m in 15:08.26.
The men return to action on Friday when they compete at the Lafayette/Rider Invitational in New York, N.Y.
