PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's outdoor men's track team finished in the top three of seven events in the Delaware Open this weekend at the Delaware Mini-Stadium. Junior David Manion led the way for the Hawks with a win in the 800 meters.
Manion's 1:55.92 time in the 800 meters was good enough to capture first on the weekend. The Hawks rounded out the top five in the order of Aaron Leskow (1:56.00), James Gentile (1:56.07), Ryan Fenimore (1:56.23) and Tommy O'Kane (1:56.89). Logan Hohs closed out the middle distance with a third-place mark in the 1500 meter at 4:09.17.
In the relays, the 4x100 meter team of Derek Henry, Tyler Dougherty, Tyler Gallen and Jon Eisemann completed the 100 meters in 42.81 to take first. The 4x400 meter team of Gallen, Henry, Steven Butenewicz and Griff Roberts also took first with their winning time of 3:17.83.
James Rodgers paced SJU in the hurdles with a third place mark of 55.96. Henry came in fourth (57.04) while Roberts came in fifth (57.21). Matthew Sutorius turned in a sixth-place finish in the 110 hurdles at 16.67.
The sprints were led by Brendan Robert, who placed second in the 400 meters, with a time of 49.35. Garret Barbalinardo took fourth at 49.80. Jon Eisemann grabbed third in the 200 meter (22.52) as Dougherty finished behind him in fifth (22.93).
Kevin McDonnell highlighted the weekend at Bucknell with a third-place finish in the 10.000 meter at 29:48.80 in a field of 73 runners. Jon Mazzio cracked the top ten with an eighth-place time of 30:03.37. Logan Mohn took eighth in the 1500 meter (3:49.21), while Michael Rankin earned tenth in the 5000 meter (14:38.56)
The men return to action on Friday when they compete at the Larry Ellis Invitational. The first event is scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m. The Hawks are also gearing up for the Penn Relays, which begin next Thursday (Apr. 26).
