Strong Individual Performances Lead Men's Track at Ocean Breeze

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Saint Joseph's seniors Steve Thompson and Kenny Evely, junior Dylan Eddinger, and sophomore Zach Michon all turned in top-three finishes against collegiate competition to lead the Saint Joseph's men's track and field squad at the Wagner College Invitational on Friday afternoon. The unscored meet was held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.

Thompson ran the 800m in a season-best time of 1:55.93 to finish fourth overall in a field of 56 and second among collegiate racers, finishing only behind Monmouth's Dylan Capwell, Hamish Carson (New Zealand), and Julian Matthews (New Zealand). Eddinger finished just behind Thompson in fifth (1:56.02) for the third-fastest collegiate performance.

Evely (50.30) edged out LIU Brooklyn's Alban Lefeuvre by .05 seconds to earn a third-place finish in the 400m field of 34.

Michon cruised to a time of 4:16.24 in his season debut. The sophomore edged out Lehigh's Matthew Kravitz by .41 seconds to win his heat en route to a fourth-place finish in a field of 72 and the third-fastest time by a collegiate miler.

Senior David Dorsey earned a fourth-place finish in a field of 48 in the 3000m, checking in with a time of 8:34.85 in his season debut. The time marks the third-fastest indoor 3k performance of his collegiate career.

Sophomore Justin Moscoe added a fifth-place finish in the 400m (50.48) while senior Barren McCoy ran the 500m in 1:07.43 to finish second in his heat en route to a seventh-place showing in a field of 28.

In his first collegiate 200m race, freshman Sebastian Eaton clocked in at 22.71, good for eighth overall in a field of 60.

SJU's top 4x400m relay of the day came through in 3:28.10 as sophomore Aaron Lemma, freshman Stephen McClellan, sophomore Will Davies, and senior Dan Ferraiolo placed 10th in a field of 21.

Additionally, sophomore David Bryant ran a collegiate-best 60m time of 7.23 in the preliminaries of the event while freshman Vincent Giordano turned in SJU's top long jump mark, registering a collegiate-best mark of 19' 2.5” (5.85m), over a foot longer than his collegiate-debut performance at the Jack Pyrah Invitational at Haverford College.

The Hawks return to action at the Lehigh Angry Birds Challenge next Saturday, January 13. Start time at Lehigh University's Rauch Fieldhouse in Bethlehem, Pa. is slated for 10:00 a.m. Live results will be made available through Mitchell Timing.
