PHILADELPHIA – The Saint Joseph's men's track and field team will open the new year with its second meet of the indoor season at the Penn State Relays this Saturday, January 10. Both field and track events are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m., while the final event of the day is scheduled ffor 5:20 p.m. at PSU's Ashenfelter III Indoor Track in University Park, Pa.
The meet will be live streamed via a subscription to Flotrack ($) while live results will be provided free of charge.
The meet is expected to host 15 men's teams in all, including Bucknell, Central Park Track Club, Lebanon Valley, LIU Brooklyn, Lock Haven, Maryland, Norfolk State, Pittsburgh, Princeton, Robert Morris, St. Francis, St. Peter's, UMBC, and West Virginia in addition to host-school Penn State and the Hawks.

The Hawks opened the 2014-15 indoor season at the Jack Pyrah Invitational on Saturday, December 6, at the Haverford College Tennis and Track Center. The Hawks totaled 46 points to place second out of three city teams. Freshman David Henderson (300m, 4x4) and sophomore Torey Doaty (500m, 4x4) led the Hawks with a pair of wins apiece while senior Steve Butenewicz (800m), junior Chris Banks (4x4) and graduate student Peter Larmann (4x4) added with individual and relay wins. Doaty (500m) and sophomore Eddison Gulama (500m) became the first Hawks to qualify for the 2015 IC4A Indoor Championships.
DISTINGUISHED DOATY
After claming the 500m title in an IC4A-qualifying performance and anchoring the 4x4 to gold at the season-opening Jack Pyrah Invitational, sophomore Torey Doaty was selected both the Atlantic 10 Conference Performer of the Week and Corvias ECAC Division I South Athlete of the Week.

11 Hawks from four individual events rank in the top five of current Atlantic 10 standings. Sophomore Torey Doaty (500m), senior Steve Butenewicz (800m), and senior Matt McGarvey (1000m) lead the conference in their respective events while the 4x4 of junior Chris Banks, graduate student Peter Larmann, freshman David Henderson, and Doaty's 4x4 sits atop the A-10. Junior sprinter Alec Peabody (60m), sophomore Eddison Gulama (500m), senior Tyler Gallen (800m), and graduate student Aaron Leskow (1000m) rank second in their events while Larmann (500m) joins Doaty as the only other Hawk to own two top-five spots, sitting third in the 500m. Rookie Steve Thompson (800m) ranks fourth while classmate Barren McCoy (500m) and sophomore Jack Magee (1000m) round out the top-five of their events.
HAWKS IN THE NATION
Five Hawks from two individual events stand in the top 100 in national rankings. Senior captains Steve Butenewicz (19th) and Tyler Gallen (24th) cruised to top-25 spots in the 800m while rookies Steve Thompson (39th) and Dan Ferraiolo (77th) also sit in the top 100. Junior Alec Peabody's first 60m of the season (7.02) currently ranks 89th overall. SJU's 4x4 of junior Chris Banks, graduate student Peter Larmann, freshman David Henderson, and sophomore Torey Doaty is 38th.
